I went down to my boat to get her going for the summer season and there was a leak in the fuel tank. There had actually been a slow leak last year that I got through the season with by using epoxy as a temp fix. Anyway, I just bought an exact replica of my old tank, but I believe that my old tank is %75 full from last year. Any ideas on how to remove the tank and dispose of the gas? Are there any collection sites for gasoline?

try syphoning the gas by disconnecting the fuel line and putting a hose in there. and the disposal part you may want to try your local tire shops lots of times they have disposal tanks. good luck!!!

Taking out some of the gas will be easy. Just use the line that goes into the engine take it out and syphon out the gas into a bucket. If it still good gas reuse. If it's no good maybe you save it in a container till you find out how to properly dispose of it lable it bad gas.

Yea, just take the end that plugs into the engine and take the fitting off of it and use the pump bulb to start it and it will go by itself then.

Check with your local EPA agency to find out where to dispose of old gas.

edit> Just make sure the end is lower than the tank is to siphon right.

I had the same problem with 15 gallons of old gas, the local EPA approved disposal site wanted $18 a gallon to dispose of it. So I added a gallon to the car at each fill up. The 18 to 1 new to old gas ratio didn't make any difference on how the car ran. I was concerned so I checked before and after with a G-Tech unit, no discernable difference in HP or zero to 60 times. PS: it was old gas/oil mixture, adding a gallon to 18 new gallons makes the old 50:1 gas/oil ratio 18 times less, about 900:1,,,,,,

"just pour old gas on concrete drive and let evaporate. you could lite it up too- just stand back! makes a good boom!" yeh, and the residue washes of and ends up in the water ways, killing the fish.

How much gas are you talking about? 5 gal or 50 gal????
I use the motor fuel line all the time to pull gas out of the tank for my lawn equiptment, saves a lot of trips to the gas pump.
If it is foamed in, you will need a 1 1/2 ton come-a-long or fork lift to pull it loose.
