This genset will not keep running after start switch is returned to the run position. I have check all emergency shutoff senders (i.e.high temp, low oil pressure etc...). I think there is a rectifier that turns the AC from genset to DC 12 volts to keep the genset running after it starts to generate AC current. How can I keep the genset running (maybe jump the ignition directly to 12 volts)? I am going to get the repair manual for this model soon. Does the exciting capacitor have something to do with this problem? I sure hope someone out there is familiar with this problem. Any help will be deeply appreciated. Thanks,

Steve R.

This unit is a capacitor regulated system. The most common problem is low rpms which is hard to notice. The unit has a honey spot in which it makes electricity. Just below that spot, no power. What you will need to do is connect a voltmeter to the AC output and check the voltage when starting. If no voltage or very little is present, move the governor arm with your finger and pick the rpms up a bit. If the voltage comes up on the gauge, you have found your problem. You will then need to readjust the governor.

I fix my yesturday, same problem. Checks de electric elements in the control box and found out that the large capasitor 20uf 440 VAC was not working, bought a similar model at an electric shop ($4) plugged in and it run as good as always.
Good luck
