I want to know some simple thing i do for give to my 460 ford a few horse power. Thank you for your counsel.

Bigger CFM marine carburetor, or thru-hull exhaust if you don't already have it. Those are the most economical ways to boost it.

You could also run solther people n the boat makes drag in th water.

you could tell us a bit about your rig as well? the fastest way to increase HPO is to change the valve cover decal <br /> good luck and keep posting

A bigger carb and and freer flowing intake and exhaust is a good place to start.

Too bad you can't make the date/time block flash in red or something when it's 6mo or a year old so it's more noticeable.

Seriously, the easiest way to get a 460 to perform better is to make it breathe better.

The heads on 460's (pre-1993) were somewhat restrictive. A lot could be done with the intake and exhaust systems to help but opening up the heads wakes them up.

That's what Ford did post 1993 with the PI (performance improved) series of engines. Along with the heads (PI) there was some cam tweaking.

When we repowered our boat with a 383 MPI I kept the mercruiser 260 flame arrestor cover and I put it on the new engine. I still haven't seen any decrease in HP! It looks kind of funny everytime I open the engine hatch and It says Mercruiser 260 Alpha One, Power stering, Thunderbolt Ignition. When in fact I have a Bravo One, 325 HP, And Fuel injection.

But 2004 was a good year! I sold my Bayliner with an AQ 125 in that year.. Ahhhhh.. Good times... No more stress.
