Yeah, and throw the thing across the room, yup, thats me! Dude, I don't even have a vice in my basement. Just a few boxes of tools I had from doing auto body work for 10 years before I got into the miserable buisiness I'm in now for the last 18 years! I'll lay in the bilge and replace these all day thanks!

Does anyone know what happened to that big bright fireball that used to be in the sky? Raining in Boston for the 4th or 5th straight with 4 or 5 more forcasted........Sounds like your weather Boomer!

Not to worry jh. It was 83 deg today and crystal clear out. Tomorrow it's supposed to be 89. It's feast or famine here. Even thru this last weekend it was pouring buckets. Even today, as I walk across the lawn I can hear this giant sucking sound from the wet muck.

I promise, now that I got mine, I'm sending some your way. :D

Thanks a bunch, but you can keep it. Actually you can keep the upper 80's and humid too......I'd rather snow and ice than new england humidity. I bought some 10 gauge wire today. Going to re-wire from the motor to the solenoids, and go from there. Keep you posted, and thanks.-Jeff

OK, re-wired to the solenoids, and the same problem, actually, even slower to start. Took the motor apart, and full of chocolate milky, dead fish smelling, oily ....sludge. One contact pulled away, and the wires were unrecognizable. Looks like I got what I paid for on ebay....a used peice of junk.

Onto another prob today. When I bought my boat this winter, I discovered a home made welch plug in the back of the carb (rochestar 2 bbl, gm OMC 120 inline). I replaced it with a real plug, got it running where the choke wasn't spitting gas straight up in the air upon throttle. Ran great on land, bogged down hard on the water. Max 3500 rpm. Best way to lean this out? Still a bit smokey on cold start, and black plugs.

Wow JH...sorry, I thought you said you bought a new motor. My misunderstanding.

You may want to start a new post on the bogging problem. 3500@ WOT is low. S/B around 4200 or so.

No I didn't, I tried to save a few bucks....will end up costing me more in the long run. I can do it manually by dropping the tilt quad gear (3 9/16 bolts), strapping the outdrive up with a motorcycle strap, and then rebolting the outdrive to the tilt quad gear once placed. Takes about a minute and a half, which isn't bad, but I'd like to have it work properly, hence the replacing of the welch plug in the carb. Don't want to be stuck out with the kids.

I have had the same problems with mine I rebuilt the motor myself and still would only go up sometimes. I thought I had not got the motor right but decided to check out the cables for low power. Took a booster cable and hooked it to the output side of the up solenoid. And it worked although I had cleaned them before I found them to be corroded I hadn't done a good enough job the first time. Scraped them down to metal completely then re installed them with anticorrosion grease works great now

New to forum. Have the same problem with my 83 120 2.5 omc io
When I hit the switch, I can hear the moter running as normal. But
no lift. I opened the clutch cover, drained and cleaned. repacked with grease. still no go. Should I remove the assemble and repack
assemble ? Is there something seized. Or maybe a sheer pin ?
Thanks,
Mike
