4.3 oil filter

What is the automotive oil filter that fits a 1986 4.3 L omc cobra. Also, I need to fill the outdrive oil and do not know where to buy the pump. Is this only available at omc dealer/repair or is there an easier place to get this. THanks

Wix 51036 filter, pumps are available thru NAPA, PRIME LINE or SIERRA

I appreciate the information. Also, why does the outdrive oil have to be pumped in. Will it create an airpocket if added through the dipstick plug? I not going to do this, just curious.

Yes it does cause air pockets. You can also buy a pump at walmart, the one I bought only cost like $7.

DO NOT change the oil in the drive unless you know exactly what you are doing, you can ruin the upper gears if you don't fill it right.

Don't you just drain the oil through the drain plug. Have the dipstick out, then put the drain plug back and pump the required amount in through the fill plug. Or am I missing something important.

Oh, and does anyone know the fram conversion off their head, I'm sure I could get a cross reference, but if anyone knows it would be helpful. Thanks.

Sounds like you pretty much got it. Make sure you get two quarts back in and tighten the dipstick before you remove to pump so a buncha oil dont blurch out when you replace the fill plug.<br />
