I am planing on having my boat pulled out of the water to remove the O/D to inspect for this exhaust restriction.

It has a resevior in the boat for the O/D lube. Is there a cap or something I can put on the line going to the O/D to stop it from dripping all over the place when I disconnect it?

ALso, this boat has the seperate intake and raw water pump. Is there still a pump in the leg that cools the gears in the O/D?

I may have to split the leg to fully inspect the exhaust passage.

I am hoping this is not longer than a 1 day job!

There is a check valve in the drive and in the bellhousing, so oil won't come out of the reservoir. Just be sure you install a new gasket set between the drive and the bellhousing. Never reuse those seals and gaskets.

What about the pump in the O/D?
Is there a seperate vent? Or is the hose connecting to the reservoir connected to it?

I need to get as much info as possible and as many/all parts required before i take it out of the water.........don't know how much time I will have........

Still no response on the pump in the O/D?
I looked inside the transom last night and did nit see the tube I was used to on my pre-Alpha leg for the output of the pump in the leg.

It's pretty straight forward, check this link. http://www.boatfix.com/merc/mainmenu.pdf
Not sure if the manual you need is viable in this link, as not all manuals come up, but give it a try. BTW tommays did a thd on pulling and servicing a Gen II a few months back. Do a search for it, lots of good info there. While you’re fooling with the OD take the time to verify the ratio. JIC it was changed in the past....just a thought.
