bend aluminum tubing?

i just bought some 7/8 tubing, aluminum from boaters world and some hardware to make a small bow raill for my 16 foot center console. how do i bend it. i have no tubing bender whatsoever. i have a bunch of propane pencil torches though, propane. if i heat the aluminum , i know it will bend, but will it get colored and ugly, i still want it to look nice when im done...<br /><br />any info always appreciated<br /><br />mike :cool:

Get yourself a spring tubing bender. It slips over the tube and prevents it from kinking. Or fill it with sand and bend it.

Hi,I did a similar post a month ago and got many good ideas."bending aluminum anchor light" I wound up not risking it and stopped by a canvas shop and they did it for me in a second.Charlie

Go to your neighborhood home improvement store and pick up an electrical conduit bender. Take a sample of your tubing to make sure you get the right size bender. No heat required and it makes perfect bends every time. Practice on some cheap conduit before you try the aluminium. It's sort of fun!
