Hello all, ok so I have a 1986 sea ray it came with a cracked block mercuries 140, at the end of last season I found a merceuiser 120 that I bought, it needed a rear main seal, so I bought a gasket kit, took it apart today and found out the seal is wrong, also noticed the oil pan looks to be the same as the 140 but has a few more bolts near the front of the motor, the part number for the seal I bought is 814622. But it looks totally different than what I need please any info would be great

Do you have a serial number for the 120?
Is that a one piece seal or a two piece?

Sorry, Sierra doesn't list a seal for that low a serial number and the number won't work on the Mercury parts site. You could try taking the old seal into an automotive supply store. The basic engine is the same as an older GM 2.5L automotive engine.

YOU ARE HERE: MERCRUISER > 110 GM 153 I/L4 1963-1966 > 1537370 THRU 2044033 () > CYLINDER BLOCK, PISTON AND CRANKSHAFT
That seal with the wings shows up in this year but is listed as NLA 26-34462, later years use the one you have.

Yes it does say that but that seal looks wrong

Wrong in that it doesn't look like what you pulled out? I wouldn't be surprised if they changed the design a little so that those 2 piece seals seal together a bit better.
