I have a thundercraft 29' with two Mercruiser 4.3 LX (1989). Since a while, I have an intermittent low pressure problem on my left engine. The problem occurs when the engine is hot after running a while at cruising speed. My gauge shows from 0 to 10 PSI. The engine is running well and I didn't notice a particular sound or a loss of performance. My oil level is normal and the oil/filter were changed in June 2005.

At this time, I've done a few things to try to solve the problem. First I put a mechanic gauge on the engine and try it for half an hour. The pressure was stable between 35 and 30 PSI. I decided to change de sender. It was going well for a while but the problem is starting again.

When the pressure is low , I tried to stop the engine and to only turn the key (ignition). The needle doesn't come up to 0. I did the same test when the pressure is normal and the needle goes up to 0.

What should I do??
