The pertronix I bought is here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...d=1,1&item=7991634980&sspagename=STRK:MEWN:IT

Then I bought the compatible Rapair ESA from boatfix, make sure you get the electronic ignition compatible one (with a "P" at the end of the part number I think). I had to chop the one connector off and reuse the connector from the OMC ESA, but easy install other than that.
I ordered the Ignitor, and Flamethrower coil.
Would you by chance have the RAPAIR replacement ESA part number??
I got the same setup as you.

Thanks!

My ESA does not work at all when activatiing the switch. All switches test good. After reading your post, I'm switching out to Pertronix.

Re: Hailing Hystat

Received and installed the ESA along with the Pertronix Ignitor and coil. BTW... they only make the "P" model now and it will work either with points or Pertronix... according to the website.

Fired right up, purrs like a kitten! Never even had to touch the timing either.

However, did your ESA seem to work in the drive? Mine seems like nothing happens. Checked and will double check the wiring again, but there really isn'y anything to wire wrong. Like you, I had to hack the plug. Overstroke and stumble switches check out. I reset the overstroke adjustment as it was off by the book.

Maybe I won't see any difference until I get into the water. Then again, maybe the new module is not working.

Re: Hailing Hystat

I think you're right about needing to be in the water.
My ESA is working great, but if I recall correctly (from my old Cobra) the gears disengage so easy on the trailer, they don't cause the cable load necessary to trip the ESA

Kagee, do you really need an ESA to shift the 800 Mechanical unit? I've heard rumor that you don't.

I've not heard that rumor. It did seem to be a little hard getting out of reverse with the old unit.

Re: Hailing Hystat

after pertronix, the idle was so smooth on mine, I needed it more than ever before. Before when it idled really rough, at 600 or so rpm it would shake itself to N... not now..
