Hi, I just purchased a used Sanger V-210 and when I took it out on the lake, the red warning light for low oil pressure in the V-drive kept coming on at low speed, and idle. I was told this is normal but I was wondering if anyone knows why?

i have a master craft 210 and that also happened to me, for about 100 hours, and now its in the shop, putting in a new v drie, i had drive oil all in the bottom of the hull, and water all in the v drive and it would hessitate to go in to gear and not drive when you got on it

Do you have a velvet drive (Borg Warner or Velvet Drive)or a ZF Hurth vee drive? What does the manual and/or dealer say about idle and a warning light? ZF Hurth drives stay pressurized even with the engine off.

I would not accept that your warning light is OK at lower rpm...it is warning you that something is wrong or about to go wrong. If it were suppose to be on at low rpm it would say so in your manual...but it doesn't. Have it checked out, you're losing pressure and drive oil. I'm out in my neighbors Sanger V210 (2000) 20-30 times a season, drive it frequently, and have never seen the light come on in five years. When it's on...it's warning you.

Pretty shure you have the Borg Warner Velvet Drive. First thing to check is the oil inlet screen for blockage. When is the last time you changed your fluid??

If you read your merc. manual, it states that the V-drive low oil light will come on at idle thru 1200 rpm's in gear.Once over 1200 rpm's it will go out. The drive creates pressure enough for the switch above that. Out of gear the drive does not spin to create oil pressure so it will remain on. This is NOT a defect and is nothing to worry about.
