Think prepping a new drive boot with some Armor All snake magic worth it, or some other exotic like silicone, or ???????

Stick with the silicone, petroleum based preps and cleaners can contribute to the deterioration of the rubber...

WRONG markvictor!! Marine grease is the ONLY thing that should be put on bellows rubber if anything.I have applied it in the spring and fall for the last 20 years to my boats that stay in salt water from May until Nov.I have never had to replace a bellows because of cracking or wearing out.

I personally would not put anything on it.....& replace them every five years or so....However, I can see the benefit of grease to keep critters from growing on it or eating it....JK

Petroleum rots rubber...and putting grease on the exterior of your boat is environmentally unsound and probably illegal as well...

Actually, I have been spraying the boot heavily with White Grease before putting it in the water for a few years and zero problems. Just trying to keep the barnacles off. So far, so good

That is pretty inconsiderate of the environment, don't you think?

Don't think so...they use white grease on food handling equipment. It is waterproof, doesn't dissolve, and it still everywhere I put it. Don't have a can at hand, but you bring up an interesting thought. I have to take a look at the can.

Well if you use marine grease to grease the gimble, as you should it winds up on the inside of the boot anyway, so how much could it hurt, just like CV boots on FWD cars and ball joint boots. I am going to do this next year because of the problem with barnicles in the bellows here.

I've better luck with white grease, and this was found by using a test strip of aluminum with different products on it, tied off my saltwater slip. Of course, you know "who", won in the long run anyway.<br /> By the way, does ANYBODY have a reason for the purpose of a barnacle..all they do is **** me off
