Looking forward to getting the boat out for the season. Last year replaced the block and all the gaskets. Have one slite problem motor runs great but we are missing part of the motor mount. We have the altenater on the right side but the other side we cant figure out what and where the the rest of the motor mount is or how it goes on. Anyone have any pictures of a straight 6 motor inboard outboard preferably the left side, any diagrams or anything to help me out would be awsome.
Looking forward to goin boatin....
Thanx

It sounds like you have the wrong block. there should be a casting on the block to accept the 2 left side bolts. Both 6s are identical except for the bolt holes. If your set on using this block ,a custom bracket must be made to accept the motor mount bracket.

I just got off the phone with my engine supplier. If yours does not have that casting, you've got an automotive block casting...

I explained the problem you're having to him and expressed my concern with my new motor, and he said "Fear not". Your new motor will bolt right on!"

Whew!!

Just above the oil pan gasket should be a casting on the side of block that has 2 threaded holes in it.this is where the motor mount bolts into.

Yes this is an automotive block. The price difference for an automotive block and a marine block was a big difference.
Hence the problem im having know...LOL

But lucky me my father works in a machine shop so getting a bracket made for next to nothing is no sweat off my back.

I really do need a photograph of the side of the motor that this bracket is on so If someone out there could help me out....

Please.

Re: MOTOR MOUNT Straight 6 chevy

I'll snap one tomorrow and post it for you unless someone beats me to it. I'll take a few from a few angles so your dad will know what you need.

Good luck!

Since you've got an automotive block, how about the internal parts? Marine or automotive??? You might want to re-think installing it if it's all automotive. I'm sure if you start a new thread on the topic, you'd get a HUGE response, or just do a search. Marine parts are higher dollar, but worth every penny!!! (Just a thought). I'll try to get those pics taken and posted for you tomorrow.

Re: MOTOR MOUNT Straight 6 chevy

I did have to assist in making one because a friend built the 300 cu in inline 6 and didnt notice the problem untill he built the motor. we used a 3/8 x 3 x 3 aluminum angle bolted to available bolt holes in the side of the block and mated to the front mount. boat has been sold long time ago so pics are not available.but you will need to check for brass freeze out plugs in the engine.

The other parts for the motor are marine rated.
I was in a pickle and found the block by chance at a local junk yard...HARD TOO FIND by the way.
But internal works great runs purrrfect except the vibration from not having that darn motor mount attached.

Awsome thanks for the info.
Look forward to the photos.
