Re: update merc 120 fuel pump

Thanks for reply one more question about pump. If one tank runs out of gas before I can switch over to the next it seems like I get a vapor lock and can hardly get the gas to start flowing again will having the vent line from pump to carb. help? I have checked all my lines vents even changed out one tank I did just change the plugs and wires after I sent the last photo so the wires you see in the photo are not those. I will try to run boat tomorrow in the lake I did start up today poured a little fuel in carb and started right up sounds great.

When you run out of fuel on one tank, everything is empty from the crossover valve to the carb. It's not vapor lock that causes your crank and no start problem, it just takes the fuel pump a while to get gas back up to the carb from the other tank.

Re: update merc 120 fuel pump

Thanks so I just have to not let one run dry before switching I did add a fuel gauge when I changed out the one tank. I am going to change other tank out and add another gauge they are bigger tanks so I can carry more fuel also and I love having a real fuel gauge. The old gauge was a yard stick.... :D
