I have a 1986 Searay with a Mercruiser 140i/o. Original Square oildyne tilt motor. Last year I started to have problems in the water with the tilt motor. Sporadically worked. I checked electric, fluid, etc. Not sure if moisture is somehow getting where it shouldn't. Either way, my question is: Isn't there a way to manually tilt the motor when this happens? I can't find the way to work it manually to get it out of the water without hitting bottom.

Thanks

make sure you check the pos. and neg. leads and also the relays first.no manual release on it like the outboard version.short of taking the hoses off the pump and making a mess pull the trim motor and have it rebuilt. most likely sticking/gummy brushes

You could disconnect the trim rams and raise the drive if your pump fails.
