If you don't find the reason for the water, you will never get it cleared out. Bad riser or manifold, cracked block, cracked head, blown head gasket. Just to name a few of the more common items.

Re: water in oil

i recently had a crack in my hull and a bad bilge pump to make a long story short i took on quite a bit of water. Is there any way it could have sucked it in in this incident.

Oh Yea, water over any of the open areas to the engine oil openings will get water in it.
Adding a quart of diesel to each oil change when changing the oil (and FILTER) a BUNCH of times will help.
After the milky look gets very minimum, you wil have to run the engine under load for a while to "Burn" off the rest of the water. Heat will cause it to eveaporate.

A can of Berryman's added to the oil and run hot for 10 minutes or so does a good job removing the cream.

Heck, now, it might even be cheaper than diesel! :D

Re: water in oil

While my boat was sitting on my trailer, I forgot to remove the drain plug. A few rainstorms later and water was up to my crank seals. Not only did water get into my oil but it also got into my starter.

Re: water in oil

Last year my boat had a bad manifold that pretty much filled the motor with water, after the manifold was replaced, I went to walmart and bought two cases of the cheapest oil I could find and three filters. I would pump all the oil out and replace the filter, refill it with new oil and filter then crank the motor over, don't start it, then do the process over again. I used both cases of oil before the water was out. I filled it again and let it run for awhile in the drive to try and burn off water moisture was left. Then changed it one more time with good oil and filter. My motor starts and runs fine and didn't have any problems last year.
