Wow i am a rookie!!!!
454 mercruiser magnum, carberated.
Not sure of the year of the motor but the boat is a 1989 Baja 240 sport. The motor has under 80 hours so it was either a rebuilt or new at some point.
I am a decent car mechanic so I hope to do most of the repairs that does not require pulling the boat out of the water myself, so mostly motor or electrical stuff.
You need the merc serial # should be on the motor if its a merc

There a lot of different things they change so your working blind with out the number

tommays
You will need a SN for your engine. Manual 9 is for engines 85-88 while manual 15 is for 89-92. Book 16 (in Bondo's link) is for 92 to 97 engines.
And you only have about a 50/50 chance of having an 89 engine in an 89 boat.
Neither 9 nor 15 is online.
