Paint the slanted part of the ceiling to grey add 'height'?

As you might guess, the wife and I have differing opinions. You can choose multiple answers. Please consult your SO

paint the slanted part of the ceiling the wall colour or leave white for ceiling.

Yes we have no fan blades - just scraped ceiling and yes I will be painting door moulding; just put in new door..

When you say 'paint the slanted part of the ceiling', do you mean 'paint it the same color as the walls' or 'paint it the same color as the ceiling (as it is now)'? Or something else?

Depends what the question is....
If you mean paint the slanted part the same colour as the wall....or as the ceiling.

We opened up a load bearing between the kitchen and living room and now that you can see it all at once she wants to repaint, what we just repainted, after we scraped the ceilings. I'm about done with the mud work, brother spending a week with us - gonna get this bad boy finished.

The Admiral suggests that a lighter shade of gray AND painting the slanted part the same as the rest of the walls will help make the ceiling height seem higher

Interesting; my wife said to paint it grey, but I think it would look funny (especially since it looks like the transition from the upper part of the slanted section into the ceiling is rather gradual.

We thought the women typed for you as a women is every thing your not cause you would have a man love and not boats .Haha .Good luck winning with this one .Cause she can make it painfull only to do overand over again till peace in the family buddy .A Favorite Boating Painting comes to mind if she loves that lifestyle too and make her pay her half as you have enough invested already .

My 2 cents .
Well it is technically the ceiling so I would prolly leave it white ... Does it have the same slope on the other side of the room?
It may have more of a rolled inside corner than a sharp inside corner so it may be hard to create a nice strait looking line with the wall paint ... idk ..
Not trying to add more work but another option would be to frame a square soffit down to the same height as the one on the right . That would make it look less funny looking to me . Run some crown around the top or maybe some wood beams maybe ... Yeah I know ... Your trying to get done ..

My wife and I agree paint it grey.

I'm going to mark this day down because it's not that often we agree on paint. Usually I just smile and nod as she Tells me what we're going to paint, and what color we're going to use.

i feel your pain.

But, I have an advantage normally - we both travel so at times I just do it while she is gone, with no input;. Most times she agrees. In fact, we are getting ready to pain the hall bath for the fourth time in 7 years - because she keeps picking out the paint. Actually SHE is getting ready to paint it; I have refused to paint yet again. I'll just take down the mirror. So, it probably will not be repainted anytime soon.
