OK, somebody please tell me that the hole in this engine block is normal and if anything is supposed to go into it to block it up. This is a 1978 OMC 2.5L. I was in the process of cleaning this thing in prep for a quick paint job to prevent further rust and for the new exhaust manifold when I found this hole. I stuck a screwdriver in it and basically cleaned it out. It seems like a normal hole, not a rusted-through block. But I don't know why it's there, or if it's supposed to be there. It's not threaded in any way that I can tell. I stuck the end of a plastic survey flag through it (seen in picture) and I get a wet greasy gunk out of it, and it goes way, way in there. So, I really need some encouragement on this...
