Installing a drive belt on a 120HP I/O OMC

I need help-What do I need to do myself to get the belt around part of the actual engine mount?<br />There are 2 pulleys on the inside of the mount area- then the alternator on the outside of the mount area-& I can't seem to figure this one out-first time logger-what can you tell me in layman's terms-no philly lawyers please-Thanks in advance!!Stuco in looks of finding piece on the water!!!

Welcome Aboard,.......<br /><br />You'll find a Removable Spacer Block on the Port side of that mount,......<br />Pull the 2 Bolts on that side,.. Remove the Spacer,+ Install your New Belts.........<br /><br />Then Reinstall the 2 Bolts thru the Spacer......

You might want to put a spare belt over the spacer at the same time.<br />You can tie it back with cable ties.<br />Makes changing it easier on the water.

Below is a picture that shows where the spacer (C) and bolts (B) are that you have to remove to replace the belts. It's a Mercruiser picture and some OMC's didn't have the spacer. In that case, you need to support the engine, remove the bolts from the front mount and install the new belt.<br />In the picture, belt A is for power steering and you probably don't have it. <br />You also need to inspect the pulleys, if they are all rusty, they will eat up a belt faster than sand paper. Either replace them, or sand them smooth and repaint. or you will be eating up new belts very quickly.<br /><br /><br />
