Replacing Dashboard in Boat

Looking for anyinfo from people who have replaced the dashboards where the gauges mount on boats?<br />What material did you use, where did you get it from?? All help is greatly appreciated..<br /><br />Come on spring<br /><br />Tallman

I used 1/2" mahogany marine plywood. Came out beautiful, but a lot of work.<br /><br />Good luck. :)

On my last boat, I went and bought whatever wood they had that was wide enough to make the dash out of. It was 5/8 inch thick, if I remember rightly, don't remember what the wood was. I cut it, stained it, and spar varnished the living bejesus out of it, and it worked until I sold the boat.<br /><br />

Yeah tried that didnt see anything...<br />I dont want to put wood in the thing, its got something like black plexiglass in there now. There are 3 panels that I would like to replace.. <br />I looked at local stores and didnt see anything that would work.<br /><br />Thanks for the help<br /><br />Tallman

Look in the Yellow Pages under "Plastics", or under "Metals".... Find a commercial supplier... Many times they have "Drops", that can be picked thru to find what size, or color, or texture, or whatever you Think you Want.......<br />Last one I did was with an 1/8th" aluminum piece, that had an "engine turned"(2"swirls) face.......

If you are trying to find colored plexiglass to make a dash from try this site. www.selectproducts.com They supply parts to people in the car audio field for just about anything you can think of. They have colored plexi, mirrored plexi, or even carbon fiber blanks you can get and cut to the right size.
