From a bare hull

I have aquired a bare hull (free) from a 1973 26Ft Silverton Sedan. Everything is gone except for the one piece glass deck section and hatch above the (working) inboard. The hull and all stringers appear to be in real good shape. My question is has anyone attempted a project this big? I'm not looking to make it a cabin cruiser again. Maybe just an open fishing boat with maybe a pilot house and a small v-berth. Any suggestions?

Try doing a search in this forum for Project Skanky Beast. You might could learn alot from that ole' boy. That project that he did was a huge undertaking. He has pics too.

I say go for it. If you have a good solid platform to start with, you are limited only by your skill and imagination. Just make sure you account for structure and safety, and you'll end up with a sweet rig. Good luck and post pics...

FREE! Go for it! I'm in the process of re-doing a 21' cc openfisherman... I started with a total basket case and it's taken way too long.. Almost done after 18 months... I work on it EVERYDAY! At least a little something..

Just one warning.. (well, two actually) The farther you tear into it, the worse things seem to get, and the more you find you'll have to fix.. If the stringers are good thats a major mark in the "plus column"...

A project like this always costs four times as much $$$ and will probably take at least twice as long as you think..

The hull is from a 1973 Silverton. It's length is 26' and the beam is 10.6'. The hull is in great shape and all stringers appear to be in good shape. Like I said this thing is gutted. All that's there is the hull. It did come with the chrysler V-8 inboard, most of the plumbing, some of the rigging, the glass flybridge section w/all controls and most of the stainless rails. I've done a lot of reading through this forum and I'm thinking about loosing the inboard and adding a transom bracket and running a couple of outboards. What say ye? Once I figure out how to attach photo's, I'll post a couple as is.......
