Paint removal

I am looking at a old aluminum semi V 12' boat with a old Johnson Sea Horse 7.5(1955-57 ish), bilge pump, lights and trailer for $500 obo (try to get it for $450 or less) does this sound fair for a price. The problem is the guy must have used it for duck or goose hunting and it is painted in camo (which is peeling) and I was thinking of removing it any ideas on how to do this while still leaving the original paint? Also After going to his house to try and contact him I noticed that the tag does not have a hp rating or anything like that. Just a model # and serial # (I think). Is there anyway to really find out if I would be okay with a larger engine (recently aquired a johnson 15 hp short shaft) and a idea on how much I can carry weight wise (me@225 lb, my g/f@120lb and gear be to much?).Sorry for the long post Thanks in advance, James

Re: Paint removal

Okay I finnally bought a boat. It is a 61 Duracraft 12' semi V with a 58 Johnson sea horse 7.5, trailer, marine battery, bilge pump, lighting, oars, anchor. Still looking for any ideas on what size engine I may be able to put on it thanks James
