Fuel Gauge Sender Replacement

The sender for my fuel gauge needs replacement. The boat is a '78 20' Grady White Gulfstream w/ Mercruiser 165 IL6. The access hole does not seem to be big enough for the job. I guess I will have to remove the piece of floor over the tank? The previous owner installed something over the floor in the cockpit, I forget what you call this stuff. Is there anything special I need to know about the sender replacement?

FBT,

It's a relatively simple job. The senders are pretty much universal. Make sure you replace the gasket.

As far as access goes. I would cut a hole, the size of a deck plate that you can install. That way you'll have good access anytime you want.

Good deck plates are pretty inexpensive.

FBT,

If you do not already have them, they are handy to install where the fill/vent and outlet hoses attach to the tank also.

Good luck.
