Anyone know if you can order Gel-coat in the proper color to match say, an '86 Chriscraft runabout?
You know, spray cans like you would order for an older car if you had the paint color code???
I want to recoat a small damaged area as "close as possible" to the original, but the thought of mixing pigments has me spooked.

thanks,

L

Re: Gel-coat repair

The last time I talked to them they needed to match the fade for older gel coat or for models that they didn't produce an on-the-shelf version for. The cost to match the color was $70 and then the cost of the can of gel coat was another $25 on top of that as I recall (these are approximate numbers). So it was going to be about $95 plus shipping for a spray can of the stuff. I decided to go with paint.

Thom

Ahoy................

I don't need to match the fade, I'll go for close and let the sun do the rest. By the way, how do they match the fade?
When I bought the boat it had this funky repair on one side. Stark white unidentified sealant over a few places and some sort of tape. As you launch, and drive your trailer up the hill to park, you look back pridefully at your boat pacing in the "no wake" zone, and you just hate to see that patchwork of ugly on one side. I'm just weird I guess, but it bugs me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

h90
