HI I need some help I have a 1960 elgin vhull 14ft boat it's in ok shape it doesn't leak or anything.<br />what I would like to know how important to have a smooth hull my hull it ok but it's not completely flat it has some repairs it goes ok but ive been wondering if it's creating extra drag.<br />I ve never had the boat upside down so I don't know the exct condition but what I can see looks ok any tips?

well as in racing and boating the smoother the better.any roughness is going to create additional drag on the hull and a loss of speed.if the roughness is small you likely wont notice any difference or speed loss.but of course the rougher it is the more drag you will have to deal with.as well as how much work you are willing to do you will need to decide if the small loss in speed is something you are willing to live with.as far as tips.fill in any deep scratches gouges and such, repair any crack you see.check the old repairs to make sure they are still holding goog and arent begining to crack or wobble inside the repair area.sand any area you feel needs it.pretty simple.may do a search on this forum and see what else you can come up with. alot of good info here. good luck.
