I have a 1984 25 foot Mark twain 350 with a 260 Mercruiser and have just found out the reason my coupler has been failing is due to a weak transom, already got a couple of suggestions, but I am just looking for all my options on how to go about fixing the transom. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated, Thanks

Re: Transom repair options

One of the options I have heard good reviews about is using a product called Seacast. This is a plastic product that is poured into the transom after all rotten material (actually, all old material) is removed from between the inner and outer layers of the transom. It costs more than the traditional plywood & 'glass work, but produces a superior transom that will never rot again. And no worries about water seepage at the motor/outdrive mounting holes.

I have not used it, but if I need to do a transom repair, this is what I will use.

See http://www.transomrepair.com/
