Another trick to keep the plexiglass from cracking is use masking tape, along with a SHARP bit , and not too much pressure. Let the bit cut it's way thru, don't force it. Tape BOTH side of the glass.
Oh yeah, go slow on the drill motor

Time for a helpfull tip when using hole saws in wood plastic or aluminum. Layout the holes. Pilot drill, to drill hole size. Remove the drill bitt in the hole saw, replace it with the UNTHREADED length of a right sized bolt. IT prevents the pilot hole from getting bigger and then the holesaw hole getting bigger till you cut thru. :)

Yea, I was tapeing both sides of the plexy, drilling slow, and was still cracking. I did learn to use Lexan. Much better product. After using lexan, I cant understand why anyone would even use plexy at all. anyhow, beautiful job on the dash Calicokid. I really like the way you tied the wheel together with the dash.

I checked out the site for your materials, and priced the carbon fiber. WOW! very costly, almost $200 for my dash. Guess I'll be using something elso. But that made me wonder, When these kids are buying carbon fiber hoods for their rice burners, they arent solid are they? My brother bought one for his mustang, and it only cost him somewhere around $450. Are these hoods fiberglass with a carbon fiber laminate on top?. If they were solid, it should cost around 2k.

edit

Re: Dash panel

How come every time I spend 5 minutes squeezing myself under the dash and getting set up to work under there, I suddenly gotta pee.
Your getting old. :)

I have the same problem. I fould if I lay off the Diet Pepsi right before I start the work I don't have to stop, get out, and go pee.

I am going to cut the dash out and use my plywood boards again! I might get some soret of background plastic too.
