Hello, I am doing a project for my statistics class. Please post how much you spend annually (estimate) on up keep of your boat. Doesn't matter what kind of boat, and it doesn't apply to engine up keep, only cosmetic maintance. Thank you for you help.

Thats a tough one for me, most of my "up keep" is in the form of little projects, some what more than maintenance per se..I guess for just the expected routine costs of waxing, washing, minor gel coat repairs maybe $150 a year.

$50 for my new boat (not falling apart yet)...just needs polish, wax, cleaning, etc. But probably closer to $300 for my older one due to a regular dose of repairs necessary from age, breaking parts, and general wear/tear.

I find it interesting that you're excluding engine maintenance. That's where the real expenses come in. Regardless, good luck on your project.

Cosmetics? Probably less than $50 and ten hours per year just in upkeep. Improvements are another story...

hotsauzze, you're probably going to find that cosmetic upkeep directly relates to what kind of boat a person owns. A person with a small fishing boat spends a lot less time and money than someone who owns a 35' cabin cruiser. The same can be said with cars. A person who owns a 1995 Chevy pickup probably spends less time keeping his ride nice than the guy who owns a 2005 Corvette. It's all relative

For me, about $100 a year.

I concur with Buckeye, I've got an aluminum deep V and don't spend a thing on cosmetic things. Fish don't care if it has a couple water spots. That being said, I had to add 3 stainless steel screws to transom to seal old holes from transducer...guess that is about $0.15 for the year now. Hope that is the average for my maintenance costs throughout the year, I could even stand a standard deviation of about $0.05 for upcoming maintenance tasks.
