I was running low on gas so I went to the
marina and filled up. A while later I noticed my gas gauge was on empty. I have a 20' Voyager
pontoon boat 1995 with a 90 Merc outboard but
the tank is a built in tank. I had heard of floats sticking, so I took out the 5 screws in the
center of the tank, and pulled up the rod. It
is kind of like the workings in a toilet, and
seemed to be free. At the botom of the rod is a round styrofoam ring larger than the opening, so I
couldnt remove it. Is this normal? Also do you
think I am right in assuming my problem is in the
tank? Also does anyone know where I could get a wiring diagram for this boat?

Re: gas gauge

With the key in the ON position, ground the center sender wire. If the gauge goes to full, it's your sender, bad ground to or at the gauge or loose wiring.
