Re: battery charger

I don't know but these are often cheaply made in China. If you can open it up (might be riveted), look for a blown fuse. Replace with the same fuse type and try to use it again. If it blows again, give up. If there is no fuse or it is not blown, give up as it is probably in one of the electronic bits or a blown winding in a transformer...

Re: battery charger

Thanks but it's a sealed unit, it does have in line fuses on the pos cables but they're OK. I'm sure it's beyond repair Just wondering if anyone else has had problems with the Guest chargers?

Re: battery charger

I have not had problems with mine, and neither has one of my buddies. Mine is a 2613 (2 deep cycle & 1 cranking) I think, and I've had it about 4 years or so now. The newly re-designed cases for their onboard chargers are kind of cheesy-looking compared to the old style, but that's just my opinion! I bought my Mom a 2 bank Guest a few years ago and as she's had good luck with it too, as far as I know. Wouldn't hurt to contact the company and see what they have to say about your problem.

Re: battery charger

I have used a marquette for years, have two one at the lake and one at home, and have no problems. These are older models so no sure if still being made. I also picked up a Batteryminder from Northern Hydraulics here in Minnesota, that will slowly charge and also maintain the battery. I have used this primarily for maintaining between using(winter mostly) and have no problems.
The web site for the BatteryMinder is http://vdcelectronics.com/ which also gives good info. on battery charging.

If you contact Guest, and send it to them, they will treat you right, I have never seen any company treat there customers better!

Re: battery charger

I had one die on one bank (2610) and when I contacted Guest they had me read the number that is melted in the backs side of the machine. That gives them the date of manufactur. Mine was too old for them to do any sort of warranty work on but they cut me a great deal on a price for a new replacement. So I got a new 2610A for not much money. Its been in the boat since last summer and its still doing fine. I have mine plugged in virtually any time the boat isn't moving, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and all winter long too. The one I had before that was a StatPower and it lasted 10 years in the salt without blinking an eye, until the day it died. I have also installed a couple of TrueCharge 20+ chargers and I have to tell you, they are nice. If I was replacing mine today its the one I would buy next.

Thom
