I have a 2005 Yamaha 225 4 stroke and my dual batteries die after non use for a week or more. I turn off both batteries to the off position and they still go dead. The dealer tells me that the bilge pump is hard wired to the batteries and may be draining them. I thought this could be true because the boat is kept on a lift in Florida and in the summer we get a lot a rain but it hasn't rained that much and they still went dead!

Do you have a battery isolator between them or are you just running in parallel? It sounds like you may have a battery drain. I once had a bad switch for my running lights that even though turned all the way down it really was not off. I simply used a multimeter in series at the neg. lead source. I put in and first used the 10 amp setting(just for safety)then when nothing noted went to the next scale(200ma) and saw a small current draw. I simply then just popped fuses till quit.<br /> If do not have a multimeter can go and get one at most auto, hardware etc. Does not need to be a real expensive one and it will come with a set of instructions to use.

I have the same problem with my 23'er with twin OBs. I also have a bilge pump wired the same way that you do. Telmanmn's solution is the way to go to do it right. My wiring is a mess and I am lazy so what I do at the end of the day is turn both master switches to OFF and disconnect both batteries (both positive and negative). You keep yours on a lift - mine is on a trailer. Yes it is a bit of a pain but more of a minor inconvenience - to me anyway.

Get a test light pull off one terminal put one side to the terminal you took off and the other to the battery post and see if it lights up. if it does u have a draw if u don't it could be the battery have shorted cell.
