When I switch on my Nav Lights (one of about 10 accesory switches on dash)my guages go haywire and show incorrect readings (temp, battery, speed, oil pressure, etc.) When I switch the Nav Lights off, they return to normal. None of the other switches cause this to happen.

Looking behind the dash, I was a little concerned with the fact that I had no idea with what I was doing and thought I would throw it out here to get some clue on what to look for. Thanks for any suggestions, I'm very impressed with the quality of answers on these boards.

Hi Alaska,welcome to iboats!!

What you are describing is a classic symptom of a loose ground wire.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but in light of the fact that you "have no idea", have a mech look at it - it should be a relatively simple and cheap fix.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will see if I can fix the ground without too much trouble, if not will have the mech fix it next time I'm in there.

Your guage lights are probably activated by your NAV light switch.

I agree a ground is probably the issue.
