Thanks for the advice I'll do the 40 to 1 ratio and adjust from there. A little more info on the motor. It is made in Russia and has Russina markings. From what I gather the plans for these motors were sold to the Russians by Johnson/Evinrude. These plans are from the 60's. So what I have is a 1960's motor that was built in 1992/3.

Re: NEW MOTOR

Good evening tski23;
I would perhaps do a little more research as I believe even our old advesaries use the metric system. Just make sure you are calculating you mixture within the correct system.
I would love to know more about your aquisition as I believe alot of folks here would. Perhaps you could share some more of the specifics of this ob like where was it manufactured and by who. If you have the capability a picture would be great.
Have fun with it!!!

esox

Re: NEW MOTOR

Yeah, Check your math!!!! okay a gallon equals 128 fluid ounces multiplied by 3% comes out to 3.84 ounces of oil per gallon.

Which is very close to 40:1 ratio this is a common ratio for two strokes. Too little oil will burn it right up too much will smoke and foul the plug a little quicker.

Bob
