Can someone give me a hand. Have 1988 TXCC 200HP Evinrude (looper). Lost flywheel magnet and had to booger up flywheel to get it off. Would like to replace with used flywheel (check the price on new ones!!) Cannot determine what years Johnson/Evinrude V-6 looper flywheel will fit. Can anyone with good resource material educate me on this topic. Thanks.

Re: 200 Evinrude flywheel

The V6 and V8 wheels from 1988 on will work. Did you "lose" the inner or outer magnet(s)? They can be replaced.

If you want another flywheel call Jack at Superior Marine at 800-338-9281.

Good luck!

Re: 200 Evinrude flywheel

The magnets that glue in (outer I believe), lost two of them at same time. Had great difficulty getting flywheel off. Needless to say its boogered up. By checking with local parts and service, I get a great deal of conflicting information about what years will work and what years won't work. I suppose I am looking for a guru with part numbers so I can be positive in my own mind that the replacement flywheel is going to work. Have not found any used locally at decent price.

Re: 200 Evinrude flywheel

The quickest and cheapest way is to reglue the magnets back in. Take out the remaing ones, glass bead the contact area and use a good two part epoxy to put them back in.

Any V6 (or V8) looper Quick Start (1988 & newer) flywheel will work. If you find a used one and want to verify it's the same as yours, simply match up the "break points" on the center hub magnet. Turn the flywheel upside down and using the keyway as 12 o'clock, note where the lines are on the outside of the center hub magnet. The correct flywheel will have them in the same places.

What kind of prices have you seen locally?

Good luck!

Re: 200 Evinrude flywheel

$350.00 and up used. Had to drill and tap new puller bolt holes. Original bolt holes succumbed to over anxious fisherman, wound up with helicoil inserts and finally one with broken tap end down it that refused to come out. Not very proud of that fine work. I suppose it is possible to have some machine work done on it and rebalance. Am famillar with regluing magnets, but as you can see, the simplest fix would be a replacement flywheel.

LOL! Don't blame you! I don't want another motor that even needs one!
