And don't get me wrong, I have respect for the pack, in fact on my bucket list is to see a game, in the snow up there preferable against my Chiefs. That said too many packers fans I know personally and thru internet are holier than thou about it. But it is apples and oranges.

Read up on Lamar Hunt so you know who you really need to thank for the league we have today.

This is a good primer.

Lamar Hunt
For sure. Lamar Hunt took a decent product and helped it explode into what is the modern NFL. There were many things that happened along the way. The 1958 championship ("the greatest game ever played") certainly played a role along with a number of smart businessmen like Hunt.

Like many things in life, it is never 'this or that.' It is 'this AND that.'

I tried to go to 1980, when I moved to MO but Google is throwing up over 200 games played in the 2000 decade and need to get to work or the boss will get pissed. I work for myself...

Another guy that grew up in WI here. Packers fans have had it real good for a long time. We went from the highest of highs in the 60s, to the lowest of lows in the 70s and 80s, and back to the high in the 90s and ever since.

I feel honored to have watched my team generally win most of its games over the past 30yrs. Most fans would give a lung to see their team have that kind of success even for 5-10 years. While it would have been nice to win more than two SBs with Favre and then Rodgers, it was still a fun ride. No regrets.

Having lived now in a neighboring state for the past 30yrs, I see the constant pain that other fans feel.

Packer fans are the only fans that can say we when referring to the team (if you own a share) Some people mock Packer share holders saying it is just a piece of paper, yeah I would much rather be forced to support the team with a seat license, a major expense for the right to buy tickets.

I do own two shares of stock. I did it because I am not a fan of public funding for sports stadiums. It's just a private grab for public tax dollars. However, in the two stock drives where I purchased stock, the Packers were using the funds to offset stadium renovation costs. I looked at it as a way to put my money where my mouth was....and to be a part "owner" of the team.

I just like that the Packers don't have some rich owner who jumps in front of the tv camera or makes dumb decisions for the team.

Agree with ,ast two posts.

Titans got like 6B in public money to build the leagues smallest stadium that will hold less people than it does now. And parking will still suck.

Actually if you ever want to read a good history, uncle John's bathroom reader has a great read on it, way back into the 1800s.

That's why I tried to go back farther, but either way a 20 year stat is more relevant than a 100 year stat. A bunch less changes in the game over the last 20 years than the last 114 years. That is not cherry picking, that is relevance. If this was a business, which it is, 114 years of data means squat in today's world. Shoneys was dominant, now it is almost gone. Steak and Shake is about dead. Howard johnsons was the epitome of the best restaurant. Blockbuster, radio shack, toys r us. Etc. One can hold on to the past or face reality of the present aka cowboys.

The NFL is not failing, History is history the whole history.

That spitting by Carter was totally out of line and disgusting. To spit on another man is about as low as you can go. No excuse good enough. Carter has had problems with acting out in the past and he needs to get it under control. It was on national TV no less. It’ll be part of what defines him for the rest of his career.
Chiefs or no Chiefs next week, If I’m the Eagles he sits next week.

Well, those guys probably spit on each other while nose-to-nose on the line. We just don't see it. I bet that Chuck Bednarik, Jack Lambert, **** Butkis, and Ray Nitschke all did it.

I get that the NFL is trying to crack down on sportsmanship. Throwing a guy out of the game for spitting seems like overkill. Give a 15yd penalty or even make them sit out for 15min of game time. IDK.

Dak Prescott spit on the Eagle's field in front of Carter and Carter escalated. Honestly, if the NFL is serious than they should use replay better. It's long been the case that the "second guy" gets the penalty in the case of a fight or punches thrown. If you are assessing some kind of unsportsmen-like conduct penalty, let the NFL quickly review the tape and buzz the head ref if he needs to throw two flags. Maybe Dak and Carter should have been thrown out? That would have ruffled some feathers.
