HI I have a chance to purchase this ocean pro 150 1993 for a good price. It has low commpression in one cyl.The head has been removed and there is some light scoring.I think it will be an easy rebuild. Is this aood engine to sink some money into? THANKS I have been reading this forum for a while and really enjoy it.

Which cylinder is scored? If it's number one or there is signs of water in number one I would not reuse that block. Other than that it's a very good motor.

Good luck!

Dhadley, For my continuing education, could you elaborate with the whys & wherefores to your answer? What is the significance of #1, etc.? Thanks in advance.

Some of those motors had a seam that would open up and allow water in number one. The leak was next to impossible to repair because of it's location. If you have no water there now it's most likely OK. They really are great little motors.

Good luck!

Dhadley, I've got a chance to buy a 115 Evinrude, 1980. I really like the boat. The owner says that the motor has "moisture" in one cylinder. Does this particular motor have a seam like you mentioned?
