Struck out on the pallet Jack today . . . the things was 'inoperable' yet advertised as working. . . . a waste of time. :cautious:

I got 4 more mover's dollies at HF today. Then spent a little bit of time disassembling stuff in the engine bay (mostly wiring) and taking some of the ancillary items out of the boat.

Lots of labeling of wires and hoses . . . and oooppps! I accidentally cut the depth sounder wire to the Garmin.

I did some cleaning of the engine bay and flushed it out with water. The main bilge pump decided to crap out so I had to run the secondary bilge pumps . . . no drain plug on this boat.

I took the 3 LiFePO4 batteries out and set them up for their winter nap.(y) I have a single regular battery in their place, which will provide power as needed when the new engines are installed.

I started some clean-up on the engines . . . it is amazing that everything is reachable now :ROFLMAO:

Tomorrow will be all about the taking the front engine mounts out and removing the transom assemblies.

I need to think about a design for the soon-to-become storage area. Needs a level floor of some sort and some access to the bilge pumps.

Oh, and another thing . . . I'm going to fix the several limber holes in the stringers. As they are, they sit up about 1" from the hull surface and as such trap an inch of water in places they shouldn't.

Question Du Jour . . .

I anticipate needing to run these Mercruiser engines out of the boat, on thier pallets at some point. . . Probably to sell them (demonstrate, compression tests, etc.)

Old style engines were easy (relatively speaking), but these engines are DTS (digital steering & shift), so it is a different ballgame.

I may post a separate thread in the Mercruiser forum for specific input.

Transom Assembly Removal Day . . .

I took the engine mounts out and have done one of the transom assemblies.
Here are some pictures of the 'fun'

.
The Y-Pipe looks as if it was new . . . The internal plate looks pretty good too.

.
I got the engine mounts cleaned up . . . gotta love stainless steel.

.
The transom assembly looks real good . . . the SeaCore option with the anodizing and stainless steel hardware is the real deal.

.
10 seasons in salt water . . . Looks good. :D

.
Here is the transom so far . . .

.
The Keyhole is in real good shape. I think when Cruisers Yacht builds a boat, they are not fooling around.

.
The transom may be a wood core, might be synthetic, but with the gelcoat finish it is hard to tell.

This afternoon will be the other transom assembly. Then I got to think about the extension pod.

Transom assemblies are out . . .

.
I drilled into the side of one of the 'keyholes' to see what the transom core material is . . .

.
A foam of some sort. Medium gray in color . . . drills fairly easily. Might be Divinycell.

I suspect the stringers are the same core material.

Assuming you mean the new motors
New motors can be digital steer but can also be electric/hydraulic, mine are this type

If your going with joystick control than I believe they need to electric

All electric steering is fairly new, but probably what you get these days. I’d prefer it vs combo hydraulic
