I was given a boat, trailer and 1960 75hp evinrude with approx. 40 working hours, which has sat in a garage for 10 years.my question is is this motor worth my time trying to get it to run again since it sat for so long.I had one professional opinion he said its a long shot there could be rust build up etc...If fixable were do I start

HECK YEAH its worth it....I'd start with some fogging oil and while thats sitting start with fuel system. CLeanning the carbs, draining out all old fuel in all lines, will probably need a new fuel pump. Also a new impeller in the water pump and fresh grease in the lower unit. THese guys on here can give you way more info than I can, but I'd go for it.

That's one of the flashiest of the "fin era" engines. Top of the Evinrude line for 1960.

Some great color ads for it that you see on eBay.

Fast and powerful for pulling skiiers. It likes a lot of gasoline and uses a 24:1 oil mix.

Give it a try as Skydawg recommends. You will an eye-catching boat if you can get it back to life.

Skydawg gave you some good tips, dude man. I would use WD-40 or some type of penetrating oil in place of the fogging oil, though. Spray lots in through the spark plug holes while rotating the flywheel by hand. Repeat this several times over the course of a few days while you de-gunk the carbs. Use fresh fuel and a good quality oil, and let 'er rip!

Everyone is on the right track. I like to leave the wd 40 or oil sit in the cylinders for a few days if the motor has sat for a long time. This will ensure there is no ring and cylinder sticking. If you would need help locating any parts for this motor I have an excellent source for them. Please PM me and I will be glad to help you out..
gra6961@usa.net if you need anything or PM me
