I was wondering if anyone could give me any information on the above engine. There is one for sale in my area. I friend and I were thinking about getting it. It runs good and is a "manual shift." As opposed to electronic shift.

Are these good engines? What about availability of parts? Sorry I don't have the model # or anything.

Shane

The 1968 version is an 85hp engine. The '67 is an 80hp. Remove the motor cover and if you see a toothed belt with a distributor hanging off the back, it is a 1987 or earlier. The 68 had points, rotor, and distributor cap under the flywheel

A lot of parts are not aval. at local shops. You have to learn how to dig them up sometimes at a higher price. Sometimes you have to be creative. A little war story here went to local shop for a woodriff key on the water pump. I was told that key would have to be ordered special. I went to the Tractor Supply Center and got the one I needed for .29 cents.
