old gas cans ?

can you still buy cans with two lines or can you adapt the new cans? this is for a 1961 johnson 35hp outboard.

Hello.<br />Yes you can. Refurbished with fuel line and connector they go for about a 120 box.They are being auctioned off at e-bay all the time .There are 2 in my barn and a thousand in other barns.<br />Adapting the newer fuel tanks is a royal pain in the neck.<br />You can also replace the pressure system with a pump which is probably cheaper.There are a few post on this board about how to do this .The Seloc book that covers your engine has a very detailed description about changing to fuel pumps.<br />good luck.

You can get new 2 hose fuel line and orings for the connectors at your OMC dealer. Im not sure, but think my OMC dealer ordered the 2 line hose as an OMC part number from his catalog.

also, I would hate to do this, but you can add a fuel pump and convert your engine to a single line system.

Are you sure your motor doesn't have a fuel pump (i.e., takes a regular single line hose)? I had a '61 Lark that had a fuel pump, and I think the pressure tanks were discontinued after 1958. (Maybe another lister can correct me on the year.) In any case, though, OMC offered a conversion kit so the motors could be run off permanent tanks for long-range cruising. A pump from a similar horsepower OMC motor can be easily installed. Get the exhaust port cover along with the used pump and you can bolt everything right on. After you block off the "air" outlet coming from the engine and install a single line fuel inlet at the motor, you will be on your way.<br /><br /> Curt
