18hp evinrude fuel leak

this is a 1966-1969 , 18 hp evinrude.There is a small hole built in to the top left side of the carb.It is spurting/pulsing fuel. What is it?<br />and how do I stop it ?

Goober.... That is a float chamber vent hole. If air can not get out, fuel can not get in. Your problem is that the float needle valve is not seating properly, allowing the carburetor to flood. The cure is to remove, clean, and repair the carb as needed.

Joe Reeves- Thanks for the guidance. This old 18hp was my fathers and has run great for many years. The carb was rebuilt, I want to say 3 years ago. The engine was laid on its back for a couple of years. I tinker with cars some .Is this<br />a easy fix?-goober
