my 1965 90 horse evinrude works great in the begining of the ride but after it warms up it doesn't take off as fast as it did earlier.
I'm I suppose to turn somthing on the carb after
it warms up (type II heat/electric)or is it something else?

Are you sure that your choke is not sticking? You might try cleaning your carb. Might have some garbage in the jet. These are just guesses. You say it doesn't take off a sfast. Does this mean that it stutters? Acts like it's flooding? Is it missing? Need more info rather than it doesn't take off as fast. Does it reach it's normal top end speed?

it does reach its top speed it just takes longer to get there than in the begining. after it warms up if i shut off the motor and try to start it again it starts but if i try to put it in gear it seems like it chokes out bogs down and quits so i found i had to just give it gas and pray. it starts out like i'm pulling a heavy heavy skier but then like a little train that could it gets up to its top speed. while its doing all this its running very smooth no spit no sputter just quit like it choked out or act like its about to joke out and slowly accelerate as if its in the mud now that it has been running but don't shut it off it takes off better just slow and smooth

What mixture are you running? Have you been using fresh fuel? The float could be sticking in your carb. Remove it and clean the needle valve and seat. replace the float. set it so it is level with your carb when you turn it upside down. Make sure that your high speed jet is perfectly clean. You could have a small piece of garbage in there and it is not getting fuel properly.

thanks for the long distance ideas but i think its my heat-self adjusting switch in the carb. because when i adjust it myself it works great but i have to keep adjusting and after awhile its not as fun as if it would just do it on its own. my new question is--if this is the problem can i fix the thermostat or is this idea silly?
