What are the specs for my Johnson

I got a really good deal on a old 62 lone star 15 foot fiberglass with windscreem seats 40hp johnson tank battery and trailer all for 750. I am now wondering if i really bought a 1976 40hp Johnson, I am wondering what are the specs for this engine<br />Model number<br />RDS-24L<br />the D may be a 0 i don't know<br /><br />Serial Number<br />3522362<br /><br />This engine may have been purchased in Canada.<br />Any help would be greatly appreciated.<br /><br />kingofspades72@hotmail.com

Hi James <br />An RD24 is a 1962 model 40hp. Fuel mix 50:1 plug gap .030 point gap .020.

alcan is right (as always).<br />This is what I found:<br />RDS-24 Johnson 1962 40HP @ 4500 43.9 cu.in. = 719.4 ccm 2 cylinder. <br /><br />/Bear

So your saying that this engine is from 1962? Because that is the year of boat, but the engine does not look that old. I have pictures of the boat/engine if anyone is interested. okay, i was also told that this Johnson had beeen rebuilt, it may have only been the lower end How might i find this out?
