I have just purchased a used 115 Johnson and when operating it it has what I am going to call a clicking sound that appears to come from the upper unit. I had previously owned a 1984 115 Evenrude and it never made this noise and was wondering if any one had an idea of what to look at or is it posible that it is just that much more noisey? It has plenty of power and when I accelerate it seems to go away. It idles fine runs good, starts good and other wise seems very good. Thanks in advance for you help. Regards, Lubertus

It might be coming from the oil injection pump. Hold your hand on it and you should be able to feel it as it clicks.

Good luck!

Hard to say, without hearing it. Could be piston slap.

thanks I talked to a dealer today adn he also thought it could be the oil pump as they had problems with that so will check it out and see if I can tell. I have a pump from my 84 that may just fit on the 94 so will check that out also

You may also look for an air leak somewhere in the fuel delivery system. Thats from the pick up tube to the inlet side of the pump.

Keep us informed!
