I have a 1973 Evinrude 115 that has a fried lower unit but I have the opportunity to buy a 1973 Johnson 115 for parts. Was just wondering if anyone can tell me if these are the same motor and if for example the lower unit from the Johnson will bolt right up to my evinrude? Thanks for any help.

Yes, the lowers are identical. If the "parts" motor is indeed a 73 you ought to jump on it if its priced right. The 73 block, crank, rods and pistons are not like any other year.

Good luck!

Re: evinrude/johnson 115, the same?

Thanks for the quick replies! Any ideas/tips on how to ship an outboard motor? The guy wants 100 bucks for the entire set-up including controls. The only problem is he lives in Michigan and I live in Oklahoma so I am sure I am going to be shocked when I find out how much it is going to cost to ship and entire outboard motor if he is even willing to go to the trouble of boxing/crating it up. He won't just sell the Lower unit which would be a piece of cake to ship, he wants to get rid of the whole thing. I will let yall know how it turns out. Thanks again.
