1974 Evinrude 85hp bogs down when accelerating.

Boat in storage 6 years. Starts and runs fine until accelerating. Saw leak in gas line from transom well to motor. Built in tank. Changed line and bulb but bulb does not fill regidly. <br />Don't see any fuel leak.

r u running 6yr old gas? clean tank and inspect vent for critters. fresh gas/oil, clean carbs and cross your fingers.

new gas but to check I connected portable tank with new gas. Same result.Fuel pump? Two stage carb? Any guesses?

Sounds like the symptoms I had with my '70 Evinrude (85 hp) -- needed to have the carbs rebuilt. (had a shop clean and rebuild them, so not sure whether I might have gotten by with a thorough cleaning -- opted to just have them rebuilt.)

if fuel was in fuel pump & carb. 6yrs.rebuild fuelpumps,clean carbs.its cheaper. check out my post on 1979 35 h.p. johnson fuel problem. it worked for me. we get by with a little help from our friends.i consider myself blessed.
