Need to know how to disconnect shift linkage on 1973 evinrude 85 horse to remove lower unit. Thanks Sealegs56

You really should have a manual beforte starting<br />any repair.I dont have a clue where to unhook your linkage.There may be a cover about 1/2 way down lower unit.

If your's has the electric gearshift, the wires unhook up at the powerhead (starboard side). You really should have a manual. There is at least one "hidden" bolt, as I recall -- believe you have to take off the adjustable tab on the bottom of the ventilation plate in order to access one of the bolts.
