Evinrude Fisherman Year?????

A friend of mine just got an Evinrude Fisherman 5.5? Model # 5524R-13408<br /><br />I tried at OMC.com and they don't have the Year listing chart anymore. <br />Can anyone help?Edit: Found it on a German site.<br />1962 model.<br /><br />Also, We ran it in a test tank, started and idled fine but overheated. Question? Is water supposed to come out of the hole 1/3 of the way down the shaft? Right now only air is blowing out.Does it have a thermostat? <br /><br />My friend will be buying the manuals if he wants me to do any work on it. Any Canadian sellers of Shop manuals?

Hi,<br />Your motor is 1962 5.5 hp Evinrude. I don't know about the water pump or exaust systen on this motor.<br /><br />JR

need a manual. It sounds like you need to service the water pump, and you may have to remove the powerhead on that model in order to service the impeller (actually, to disconnect the shift linkage so you can drop the lower unit.) But it's not as bad as it initially sounds, and they are good little motors. The oil mix is going to be richer than on a contemporary motor.
