year of motor and where is vent plug for oil

What is the year of my Evinrude 50 outboard? The serial number is 50373r e0011648.<br /><br />Also, we are trying to change the oil and cannot find the top (vent) plug.

You probably haven't found the fill screw yet either. The vent/fill screws are identical and are on the starboard side of the lower unit. One is at the bottom or the gearcase and the other is near the cavitation plate. BOTH are slotted screws, NOT philips.

Thanks Wildeone. We had already found the bottom screw. We both work on cars, but have little knowledge of boat motors. This is our first boat. Where is the cavitation plate? I cannot find any other slotted screws. Do we need to remove a cover plate to get to it? Thanks.

thanks for your help. we found both plugs and have done it. btw...we had found the top plug, not the bottom.
